Chris Galis

For Chris, it all started out as an assignment for a media writing class that Chris took while enrolled at Colorado State University. He reviewed the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Stadium Arcadium” double album and received a B-. Not one to be easily put off, Chris’ writing and panache for music critique was soon gracing the cover of Northern Colorado’s most esteemed entertainment rag, Scene Magazine, published by entertainment mogul turned entrepreneur, Mike Mockler. Upon moving to Austin to play music, he began picking up gigs on the blog circuit, writing for the Austin Sound and Space City Rock for peanuts while grinding out night after night in empty bars, playing songs to no one with his best friends. He’s covered national acts and events and reviewed countless local albums from Austin musicians. Upon meeting Lauren and CJ at SXSW 2009, he interviewed the two for a story and has worked with The Sessions as a writer, blogger, and friend ever since. Chris’ writing has been published in Scene Magazine, the Rocky Mountain Collegian, Austin Monthly Magazine, the Austin Sound and Space City Rock, and the Sessions blog. He is a former member of the Northern Colorado Press Association, 2008 and still continues to play music in several bands.
