Poison and Wine by The Civil Wars
Being a producer and working in music over the past two years, I’ve been incredibly lucky to have some pretty amazing moments. It’s always a surreal realization when I take a step back from set and recognize how lucky I am to be in this profession. Much of the process for selecting bands to work with really just involves CJ and I sitting in the studio and listening to as many new bands as possible. In early January, we came across The Civil Wars on an agency list that was sent to us.
It took no more than the first few lyrics from John Paul and Joy “You only know what I want you to/ I know everything you don’t want me to/ Your mouth is poison/ Your mouth is wine…” and I was in love. Listening to their album “Barton Hollow” for months leading up to the Factory, and then ultimately getting to share one of the most intimate musical experiences of my life with them is something I will forever hold.
